First closed session: Strengthening multilateralism and addressing security threats

During the first closed session of the ASEM 6 Summit, the leaders reconfirmed their support for a fair, just, and rules-based multilateral international system with the United Nations playing a central role.  Leaders also discussed a broad security agenda, including the prevention of terrorism and organised crime as well as combating avian influenza and other communicable diseases. Leaders expressed their solidarity with the people and communities affected by natural catastrophes.
