Borderless Me between 7 and 11 September 2006

Borderless Me was a series of creative installations that could be viewed at the Helsinki Fair Centre from 7 to 11 September 2006 and near the Lasipalatsi Film and Media Centre, in Helsinki, from 7 to 8 September 2006 in conjunction with the ASEM 6 Summit in Helsinki. The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) organised the project jointly with the ASEM 6 Secretariat, Media Lab at the Helsinki University of Art and Design and the City of Helsinki Cultural Office.

More than 100 Asian and European artists contributed works to Borderless Me, which presented ASEF's active involvement in civil society dialogue employing elements from a number of ASEF’s projects.

Using more than 400 photographs, moving images and soundscape, Borderless Me installation illustrated how ASEF opens varied avenues towards cross-cultural understanding by engaging peoples through its three fields of action: People to People and Intellectual and Cultural Exchanges.

The series of visual and sound installations provided an experience of how ideas, practices, languages, sound, images and technology can transport people across borders, even within a specific site, while embracing the diversity and unity of varied cultures in Asia and Europe.

Berlin-based artists Ruthe Zuntz and Michael Reitz were the artistic collaborators for the visual installation. The soundscape was the collective result of the 4th Asia-Europe Art Camp 2006. Curator: ASEF’s Vanini Belarmino.
